We are delighted to report that Shlok, a Year 2 child, was invited to participate in a chess championship tournament in Greece recently. It was his first international tournament and involved 21 European countries. Shlok did extremely well and won a medal for England by ranking 5th in the tournament. The games he lost were very close and long fought. He also impressed by defeating the top seeded Russian player of the tournament.
Shlok is due to play in the British Chess Championships at Bournemouth in July 2016 and also the much tougher, European Youth Chess Championships in Prague at the end of August 2016 in a higher age group category.
We will be watching Shlok's progress with great interest. Well done Shlok!
On Tuesday 28th June, the sun granted us with its presence and Sports Day 2016 was able to commence, a huge relief for us all after checking weather updates continuously for the week leading up to one of our most exciting, weather dependent events!
A huge well done to all the Tubbenden children who tried their very best at sports day both in the Infants and Juniors this year. Thank you to all the staff who supported in the smooth running of such an exciting day in our school calendar.
The day began with the infants and the multi-skills races:
Well done winning teams!
In the afternoon the Juniors rivalled Olympic standards in the Athletic events and competitive races!
Finally the scores were in….
And Nightingale were victorious!
Thank you again to the TFA for providing refreshments and to the parents for showing great support.
