Dear Parents and Carers,
The morning class have been exploring our natural world this week. We have been discussing lifecycles of seeds and insects. We have also monitored how our garden is growing and talked about how to care for the plants, we have been on scavenger hunts to find natural materials that have been used to create art work as well as looking for bugs.
We have explored fruits creating art work inspired by it an have dissected it to explore its texture, smell and to find the seeds.
In the role play area, the children have shown a keen interest in play hairdressers this week, discussing different ways of styling hair and then creating them!
Afternoon Provision :
The afternoon class have been following the literacy focus of ‘The Gruffalo’ this week. We read the story and discussed the characters. we then spoke about the different places where the animals from the story live and went for a walk around the school to try and find them. We followed on from this by going on a percussion walk around the school, using drumsticks to see what sounds different natural objects made.
A lot of the children have shown a keen interest in discussing there holidays this week. They also spoke about how they got there. Using the classroom chairs they created a plane which they flew to different destinations such as India, the beach and Hop Farm.
This week’s home learning is to create a collage or picture using different natural objects from the Garden!
