Nursery Weekly Newsletter 19/07/19

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we gave the children the opportunity to choose the focus activities based on what their favourite activities have been over the last year. The children then voted for which activities they liked best.

Morning Provision:

The morning children have enjoyed being outside in the garden, making different buildings and structures with our foam building blocks. They have also enjoyed playing in the mud kitchen, using off cuts of herbs and flowers and also making large scale marble runs.

The children have also requested this week that in PE we do different obstacle courses so we’ve been jumping from heights, crawling through tunnels and experimenting with different ways of travelling across benches

Afternoon Provision :

The afternoon children have been experimenting with our train track, seeing how far around the classroom they could reach, they also used excellent initiative to create supports for the track using duplo blocks!

Other activities requested this week were going on a nature hunt so the children took a bucket onto the field and filled it with different natural objects which we then made pictures out of, gymnastics for PE and making books. so we created our own main character then made a story about them the following day.

Home Learning:

There will be no more home learning this term so if you’ve done anything exciting over the weekend, feel free to email in some photos for us to show and share

Photos of these activities or any other exciting news can be emailed to nurseryparents@tubbenden.bromley.sch.uk

Summer Jamboree:

As you are aware, on Tuesday it is the last day of term and our end of term party!

On Tuesday, Morning and All Day children can be dropped off at 9 still or if you would prefer you can bring them in at 10 when the party begins. Afternoon children should be brought in at 10 if you wish for them to attend the party. There will be a bouncy castle, outdoor games, music and an area for sitting down to have some snacks. If you are bringing snacks, especially snacks to share please may we remind you, NO NUTS. Tuesday will be an own clothes day but please may we ask you send your child in wearing suitable clothing for outdoor activities and the bouncy castle. If you wish to take your child home during or after the event, please inform a member of the nursery team. When the party finishes at 12 and parents and morning children have left, so we can accommodate the children having school dinners, the rest of us will be having lunch in the classroom together. Afternoon children are invited to stay after the party for lunch to save leaving then returning an hour later.

As tempting as it may be (we’ve had to resist for a couple of years now) the bouncy castle is for children only. Please may we ask when your child wants to go on the bouncy castle, they must take their shoes off first and only 5 children at a time. We will take timers out on the day.

Absence:

Quite a few parents have let us know that their children wont be attending on Monday and Tuesday. If you are going on holiday or know that your child wont be attending on Tuesday, please could you let us know as soon as possible so we can make sure all of your child’s stuff is sent home.

Uniform:

As the end of term is flying around fast, when the children leave us next week, if anybody has any nursery uniform they no longer need or want, donations would be greatly appreciated.

Our final blog post will be on Tuesday Afternoon.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Morning Provision:

A lot of our activities this week have taken place outside. We used pieces of guttering to make a giant ball run across the garden. The children stacked tyres and crates, then laid different sized pieces of guttering. They worked really well as a team to create the ‘ball run’ and demonstrated excellent turn taking.

Also in the garden, the children enjoyed large scale threading. They used a long piece of wool and threaded different size piece of wood and natural objects found in the garden.

After finding a huge spider in the classroom, the children decided they wanted to make spiders. This started with using playdough and lolly sticks which then progressed onto making spider pictures to stick on our web.

Afternoon Provision :

This week we went on a hunt for natural objects. Each child was given a list of items to collect and a small bag. We spent 10 minutes on the infant playground then went back to the classroom to discuss what we had found and make natural pictures.

Our fairy garden was looking a bit overgrown this week so we cute some of the larger leaves back and put the leaves in a cooking pot for our mud kitchen. The children made quite a few herby pies!

A lot of our children are interested in dinosaurs so we used left over soil to make a dinosaur set up in a tough tray. The children engaged well in this activity for a very long time!

Home Learning:

The home learning this week is to attempt to make your own marble/ball run and send us a video or pictures!

Photos of these activities or any other exciting news can be emailed to nurseryparents@tubbenden.bromley.sch.uk

Red Art Books:

This week we have been sending home the children’s art books. These are for you to keep now so you can enjoy looking over your child’s art work.

Summer Jamboree:

Tuesday 23rd July is the last day of term and also our end of term party! we will be having a bouncy castle, outdoor games and music and we invite ALL parents and children to join us from 10.00 until 12 to enjoy these activities with us. Please wait by the nursery entrance door to be given your visitors sticker. We also ask you send your child in with a packed lunch on this day so everybody can have a picnic on the field together. Like Sports Day, afternoon children are invited for the morning as this event will only be taking place in the morning. Please may we just remind you, no nut products in packed lunches please!

As tempting as it may be (we’ve had to resist for a couple of years now) the bouncy castle is for children only. Please may we ask when your child wants to go on the bouncy castle, they must take their shoes off first and only 5 children at a time. We will take timers out on the day.

Water Bottles:

Water is available for children all day in the nursery at our snack table. Please can we ask you do not send your child in with a water bottle unless it’s for their lunch. A lot of children have been sharing water bottles or filling them up from the sinks which aren’t drinking water. Although we have reminded children about germs and sharing water, it is still happening so please could we ask no bottles.

Uniform:

As the end of term is flying around fast, when the children leave us in just over a week, if anybody has any nursery uniform they no longer need or want, donations would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Morning Provision:

This week, the children have been enjoying the sunshine in the garden! all of our adult led activities have taken place outside. We have made cupcakes in the mud kitchen, measured how tall our plants have grown and playing the colour game to see who can find the chosen colour the fastest.

Our children showed a lot of interest in our parent ‘show and share’ last week where one of the mum’s spoke about her job as a clothing designer. This week the children had the opportunity to design their own t-shirts using fabric paints which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Afternoon Provision :

This week, we started the week learning how to be ‘Sun Safe Superstars’ and what we can do to stay safe in the sun. This led on to the children talking about holidays so we made our own boarding passes and packing lists for holiday. We also completed a seaside counting sheet where the children counted the items then wrote the correct number.

In the garden, a few of the children were walking around with no shoes on. when we asked why, one child replied ‘you can’t go swimming with shoes on’. The children had used the blue blankets to make a swimming pool and were pretending to swim and dive in.

A few of the children wanted to paint our fence in the garden so we used some of our magic paint which dries invisible (water) to paint the fence! the children did a fantastic job .

Home Learning:

The home learning this week is to make a ‘summer picture’. Using different textures and materials, a picture of their favourite thing to do in the summer!

Photos of these activities or any other exciting news can be emailed to nurseryparents@tubbenden.bromley.sch.uk

Reports:

if you have not yet returned your child’s report, please can you sign it and return it as soon as possible as we need to send them to your child’s new school, Thank you
