On Tuesday 19th November, Year 4 travelled to Southwark Cathedral, in London, to learn more about Christian places of worship as part of our studies in RE. We had a wonderful time walking around the building, looking at the features and decorations whilst learning all about the signs, symbols and celebrations. The wonderful staff made us feel very welcome, showing us around and teaching us about the role of cathedrals and churches in the community. Amongst the fun activities, we had the chance to dress up as religious figures and make our very own stained glass windows.
It was an entertaining and educational day, with an additionally exciting event. Whilst waiting at the traffic lights near London Bridge, we looked up to discover one of the cyclists was Boris Johnson! He was happy to talk with some of the children from 4S, and even laughed when they said he was the man famous for getting stuck on a zip wire!
