Dear Parents and Carers,
A lot of our activities this week have taken place outside. We used pieces of guttering to make a giant ball run across the garden. The children stacked tyres and crates, then laid different sized pieces of guttering. They worked really well as a team to create the ‘ball run’ and demonstrated excellent turn taking.
Also in the garden, the children enjoyed large scale threading. They used a long piece of wool and threaded different size piece of wood and natural objects found in the garden.
After finding a huge spider in the classroom, the children decided they wanted to make spiders. This started with using playdough and lolly sticks which then progressed onto making spider pictures to stick on our web.
Afternoon Provision :
This week we went on a hunt for natural objects. Each child was given a list of items to collect and a small bag. We spent 10 minutes on the infant playground then went back to the classroom to discuss what we had found and make natural pictures.
Our fairy garden was looking a bit overgrown this week so we cute some of the larger leaves back and put the leaves in a cooking pot for our mud kitchen. The children made quite a few herby pies!
A lot of our children are interested in dinosaurs so we used left over soil to make a dinosaur set up in a tough tray. The children engaged well in this activity for a very long time!
The home learning this week is to attempt to make your own marble/ball run and send us a video or pictures!
Photos of these activities or any other exciting news can be emailed to email@example.com
Red Art Books:
This week we have been sending home the children’s art books. These are for you to keep now so you can enjoy looking over your child’s art work.
Tuesday 23rd July is the last day of term and also our end of term party! we will be having a bouncy castle, outdoor games and music and we invite ALL parents and children to join us from 10.00 until 12 to enjoy these activities with us. Please wait by the nursery entrance door to be given your visitors sticker. We also ask you send your child in with a packed lunch on this day so everybody can have a picnic on the field together. Like Sports Day, afternoon children are invited for the morning as this event will only be taking place in the morning. Please may we just remind you, no nut products in packed lunches please!
As tempting as it may be (we’ve had to resist for a couple of years now) the bouncy castle is for children only. Please may we ask when your child wants to go on the bouncy castle, they must take their shoes off first and only 5 children at a time. We will take timers out on the day.
Water is available for children all day in the nursery at our snack table. Please can we ask you do not send your child in with a water bottle unless it’s for their lunch. A lot of children have been sharing water bottles or filling them up from the sinks which aren’t drinking water. Although we have reminded children about germs and sharing water, it is still happening so please could we ask no bottles.
As the end of term is flying around fast, when the children leave us in just over a week, if anybody has any nursery uniform they no longer need or want, donations would be greatly appreciated.
Here are some photos of this weeks activities:
Have a lovely weekend!
