Yellow Class were excited to go and see Father Christmas everyone sang along to the Christmas Songs playing the the minibus on the way there
Once we arrived it was straight to Santa’s Grotto- We enjoyed looking at all of the lights and moving characters inside before getting to speak to Santa ourselves!
After the fish it was time for a nice drink of hot chocolate or water in the cafe to talk about our morning!
Well Done on your fantastic behavior Yellow Class, What a great day!
Today Yellow Class visited Horniman’s Museum as a finale to our “Sand and Water topic” we were able to look around the aquarium and had our very own “hands on experience” to discover creatures that live in Rivers,Ponds and the Sea!
All Ready to go!
Can you see Sammy in the Tunnel, we found these in the Indonesian mangroves!
The Jellyfish were our favourites!
Look a starfish!!
Then it was time to explore the creatures up close:
We liked watching the frogs jumping around!
We had just enough time to visit the musical garden!!
Then it was time to go! Safe to say we were all EXHAUSTED from all the fun with most of the children falling asleep for the minibus journey home!!
The behavior of the children all day was exemplary! A fantastic day Yellow Class.
On Friday we were able to spend the whole morning exploring animals and landscape in Antarctica through art work. The wonderful creations that we have made will be put together onto a Gonfalon to represent the value “responsibility”.
First we learned how to draw a ‘Skua’ bird with special pens and fabric…
… Next we had to paste MILK onto squares of fabric….
…Which we then drew on using oil pastels to create our ‘Ice fish’ pictures…
We used fabric to create a ‘Albatrosses’
We printed icy pictures!
We learned how to make penguins using news paper and duck tape!
And painted penguins too..
Thank you very much to Pam and the art team, From Yellow Class!
It has been a short but very busy half term, as always we have had fun whilst learning with lots of exploring and hands on activities. Here are some of our favorite experiences this half term:
Our special story box revealed “Little Cloud” as our story for this half term
We learned the story by heart using a story map before reading the book ourselves. We then used this story to write our own fantasy story!
We incorporated the “Little Cloud” into our write dance too!
As well as all of our hard work, we also enjoy celebrating in Yellow Class, we make sure there is time to celebrate everyone’s birthday with a little party.
We are not sure which part we like best…
..Eating the cake…
.. Or all of the dancing!
We have enjoyed lots of creative lessons in the build up to Easter;
From our paper Mache Easter Eggs
To our Easter Nests
And of course, the EASTER EGG HUNT-
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
This has been a very busy term, We have had lots of fun learning about houses and homes.
We have made houses for the three little pigs,
And then took turns to test whether they were strong enough to stand or they would fall in role of the ‘big, bad wolf’
We also enjoyed acting as the three little pigs and hiding in our own house,
This term we have also been practicing our fine and gross motor skills during ‘write dance’ sessions-
We have taken part in lots of celebrations this week,
We watched lots of Chinese dragon dances and then made our own.
We enjoyed making our pancakes…..
And choosing our topping….
But we liked eating them more!!!
Well done Yellow Class for a super half term!
What a fantastic and very busy half term we have had! We have worked very hard on our ‘light and colour’ topic and thoroughly enjoyed all of the Christmas activities and events!
We began the term exploring and learning the story of Elmer. We learnt it by heart using just a story map to begin with!
We talked through the story making sure we didn’t miss out any of the messy parts!
We especially enjoyed having our mums and dads to help us make an Elmer!
Then just in time for Christmas we had an exciting “Gingerbread Man treasure hunt”
He had escaped from the oven!
We searched all over the school to find the clues
Finally we found him- he was on a time out for running around the school!
Then began ALL THINGS CHRISTMAS
We made decorations for the hall….
..Ate a yummy Christmas Dinner….
And celebrated with a party!
The yule-tide season is truly upon us and we have been feeling extra festive this week, Merlin class and Yellow class children have been counting down the days to see Father Christmas and finally the day arrived!
We walked through the magical grotto and counted the penguins and polar bears in the wintry landscape !
Then it was time to meet Father Christmas, he read us an exciting Christmas Story and then gave us our gifts!!!
After all that excitement, we looked at the Christmas displays and settled down for a yummy hot chocolate before heading back to school.
